A woman has died and a man was injured in single-vehicle crash west of Orcutt on Friday afternoon.

Just before 4 p.m., personnel from the Santa Barbara County Fire and Santa Maria Fire departments along with California Highway Patrol officers responded to the 5000 block of Black Road, County Fire Capt. Mike Gray said.

The vehicle ended up approximately 125 feet off the road and reportedly wasn’t visible, according to emergency dispatch reports.

The white truck landed in thick vegetation in the area west of Highway 1.

One adult female was pronounced dead at the scene, Gray said.

An adult male with moderate injuries was transported by American Medical Response ambulance to a local hospital, Gray added.

CHP officers from the Santa Maria area were investigated the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Authorities will release the name of the woman after family members have been notified of her death.

Additional details were not immediately available.

This is the second fatal crash in North County this week.

A Lompoc man died Tuesday when a passenger vehicle crashed into into a big-rig on Highway 1 near Jalama Road south of Lompoc, according to the CHP.
