GLENDORA, Calif. — The SBCC Men’s Soccer team defeated Citrus 3-1 on Friday after scoring twice in the opening 12 minutes—both from Brandon Montalvo.
“We got 25 players on the field today and won in convincing fashion,” Head Coach Alex Zermeno said. “It shows that we have depth, and it’s not just about any one player.”
Montalvo put the Vaqueros ahead in the second minute with an assist from Diego Gonzalez. Ten minutes later, Montalvo struck again on a pass from JP Garcia, sending SBCC into halftime with a 2-0 lead.
Gonzalez extended SBCC’s lead to 3-0 in the 57th minute via a Mario Romero assist. Citrus scored its only goal in the 86th minute, but the Vaqueros held on for the victory.
SBCC outshot Citrus 16-5 and held a 7-3 advantage in shots on goal.

Now 4-0-1, the Vaqueros face Saddleback on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. back at La Playa Stadium.
