Boys & Girls Clubs of Mid Central Coast invites community members to step into the shoes of a mentor for an evening at Back A Youth Night, 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24 at the Railroad Clubhouse, 901 N. Railroad Ave., Santa Maria.
The annual Back A Youth Night pairs participating adults with a Boys & Girls Club member for an evening of dinner, activities, games and conversation.
The event gives community members a chance to experience the club through the eyes of a young person while providing club members with something equally important — the attention and encouragement of a caring adult, organizers said.
Participants will join youth in activities representing the five core program areas that form the foundation of Boys & Girls Clubs programming: Character & Leadership Development; Education & Career Development; Health & Life Skills; The Arts; and Sports, Fitness & Recreation.
“For many young people, having an adult take an interest in their ideas and future can make a lasting impression,” organizers said.
“Back A Youth Night is designed to give local community members a firsthand look at the relationships and experiences Boys & Girls Clubs provides for youth throughout the Central Coast,” they said.
The event is presented by Boys & Girls Clubs of the Central Coast Foundation, Driscoll’s and SESLOC Credit Union.
Founded in 1966, Boys & Girls Clubs of Mid Central Coast provides young people with safe places, caring mentors and programs designed to support education, leadership, health and wellness, the arts, sports and recreation.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Mid Central Coast serves youth at club and school-based sites throughout northern Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties.
