Dos Pueblos girls golf had all six golfers shoot under 50 en route to a Channel League victory over Channel Islands on Thursday at Glen Annie Golf Course.
The Chargers shot a 229 as a team, while the Raiders combined for a score of 299.
Dos Pueblos’ Celeste Alcaraz led all golfers with her score of 39, while fellow Charger Sophia Fuste was not far behind at 43.
“Sophia Fuste was out of school and golf for much of last week but really showed us all in this match that she didn’t miss a step. Her ball striking was very impressive out there today,” Dos Pueblos head coach Dan Choi said.
“Celeste, as always, was our rock out on the course today. With five pars and a birdie, she really put in an impressive performance. Celeste is easygoing and a little quiet and is also incredibly competitive.”
The top duo was followed by Sophia Morales, Bella Sebastian, Alina van Hooijdonk and Allison Burk, who all shot a 49 to help the Chargers to the win.
“As a coach, we are pretty happy if we can have four golfers in the 40s and one in the 30s,” Choi said. “All the girls have been working hard, so it is nice for them to be rewarded with some low scores because golf doesn’t always work like that.”
Dos Pueblos is now 7-1 overall and 2-1 against Channel League opponents.
Oxnard 229, Santa Barbara High 282
The Dons fell to the Yellow Jackets on Thursday at River Ridge Vineyard Course, a par 36.
Ceci Duarte was the top Santa Barbara High golfer at 45, and she was joined by teammates Jazmin Mislang (51), Livvie Zampelli (56), Ava Rudd (63), Camryn Quinn (67) and Maile Zender (68).
The Dons (5-4, 3-1 PVL) will host Del Sol on Tuesday at Santa Barbara Golf Club.
