On Saturday Oct. 17, noon-3 p.m., Santa Barbara voters will join millions of Americans across the country in a No Kings – Vote Early action to celebrate democracy and protect our rights to free and fair elections where every vote is counted, Indivisible Santa Barbara said.
“There are forces actively trying to steal the next election and if they succeed there may not be another free and fair one for a generation,” Indivisible Santa Barbara said.
“We will gather and show by our numbers that we are not scared, we are not afraid, and we are not intimidated. We are Americans and we are indivisible,” the organization said.
The local action will begin at Alameda Park, then march down Anacapa Street to City Hall, where there is a Ballot Drop Box.
“We will celebrate every ballot that is cast,” event organizers said. “All are invited to nearby De La Guerra Plaza after we march and vote, to party and celebrate.”
Participants are asked to bring their political signs expressing their advocacy for democracy and freedom of speech.
“We encourage everyone to vote early, but if you haven’t voted by Oct. 17, bring your completed ballot to the park to vote it with us,” organizers said.
All Indivisible Santa Barbara events adhere to the spirit of nonviolent protest and community safety. Organizers are trained in de-escalation and are working closely with local partners to ensure a peaceful and powerful rally.
