Train tracks in Santa Barbara were shut down Monday afternoon after a collision with a pedestrian that resulted in a minor injury.
Emergency crews responded at around 1:22 p.m. for a report of a train collision involving a pedestrian.
Santa Barbara Fire Department Battalion Chief Cory Cloud told Noozhawk that a 54-year-old man was walking southbound on the railroad tracks at Corona Del Mar Drive when an Amtrak passenger train “clipped” the man’s elbow.
The passenger train was also traveling southbound at the time, per Cloud.
The man was found by the Fire Department to be “alert, oriented, with an injury to his right elbow,” Cloud said.
The man was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
Cloud said it wasn’t known what the man was doing on the tracks.
Additional information was not immediately available.
