Laguna Blanca opened the CIF-SS Div. 2 8-man football playoffs with a 44-26 victory over Malibu High on Saturday in Hope Ranch.
The Owls will now host Hesperia Christian in the Quarterfinals next weekend back in Santa Barbara.
“Great team win, repeat opponents are always a respectable challenge as you get the feel for certain tendencies both ways,” Laguna Blanca head coach Matt Escobar said.
Kevin Castillo dominated the Owls’ rushing attack with three touchdowns, while Matthew Polo and Dual Miller each found the end zone on the ground as well.
Through the air, Luke Popovich connected for three touchdowns to Castillo, Jaden Yanez and Lawler Jackson. Defensively, Oliver Archibald totaled two sacks and forced a fumble.
