The Santa Barbara Education Foundation recently elected Alan Griffin to its Board of Directors. Griffin, who has lived in Santa Barbara some 45 years, is the branch manager for Raymond James’ Santa Barbara office, where he assists individuals, families, business owners, and professionals with financial guidance.

A long-time supporter of education in the community, Griffin has been on the board at the Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara for more than 25 years, and has served as board president.

Having a daughter who works as a second-grade teacher with Los Angeles Unified School District, Griffin is well aware of a teacher’s impact on students, even when resources are limited.

“Students shouldn’t have to go to a private school to get a quality education,” Griffin said. “We need to make sure that children who have fewer resources or choices when it comes to education can get the skills they need in our public schools.”

The Santa Barbara Education Foundation promotes private support of Santa Barbara’s public education system, serving 12,700 students in 19 schools. For more information, visit www.santabarbaraeducation.org.
