The Santa Barbara area has become home to some of the top high school girls flag football talent in the state, headlined by a pair of Channel League powerhouses in co-champions Dos Pueblos and San Marcos.

The Royals and the Chargers, who were both ranked within the top 10 in the CIF-Southern Section this season, were led by several standout athletes on both sides of the ball who took home four out of the five individual Channel League awards.

While the individual award winners led the way, San Marcos, Dos Pueblos and Santa Barbara High all had impressive athletes grace the 2025 All-Channel League teams.

Meanwhile, fellow senior Peyton Sperling filled up the stat sheet as well and was rewarded with the Channel League Two-Way Player of the Year Award. Sperling collected 25 touchdowns and added 60 flag pulls and 11 interceptions on the defensive end.

Sophomore Victoria Aldana quarterbacked the high-flying San Marcos offense, while the senior duo of Janelle Capuno and Rylie Cook headlined a stout defense. As a result, the trio was named to the All-League First Team.

The Royals’ defensive unit continued to rake in the honors, as junior Marilyn Monroy, junior Jaylee Perez, junior Drea Obispo and freshman Piper Kittle all played key roles en route to spots on the All-League Second Team.

Finally, senior Mia Richmond and freshman Maya Llewellyn showcased the present and future of the program with All-League Honorable Mention campaigns.

Dos Pueblos (24-3, T-1st)

The Chargers put up points in bunches throughout the season, thanks in part to senior quarterback and Co-Channel League Offensive Player of the Year Kacey Hurley. She threw for 4,063 yards and 84 touchdowns to earn a share of the award with Ventura’s Ava Ortman.

Dos Pueblos also fielded a solid defense this season and junior Brooklyn Hedricks was in the middle of it. Hedricks totaled 190 flag pulls and 14 interceptions on her way to being named the Channel League Defensive Player of the Year.
