Carpinteria fell behind early against Trinity Classical and dropped a 54-39 decision in a girls basketball opener on Tuesday night at Carpinteria Middle School.
The Warriors trailed 20-7 in the first quarter.
Hannia Hernandez hit a pair of three-pointers and Kaela Kelley and Gracie Verdugo added buckets in the second quarter as Carpinteria ended the first half down 30-20.
The Warriors struggled in the third quarter and scored just three points. They picked it up in the fourth and scored 15 points.
Hernandez led the Warriors with 12 points.
Carpinteria returns to its home gym Thursday against Providence.
