Ella Kenly and Reese Wahlberg of Dos Pueblos finished 1-2 in their 3200-meter race as the Chargers opened their track & field season at the Simi Valley Invitational on Thursday night.

The distance races were held on the first day of the three-day event.

In their first time running the 3200, Kenly clocked 12:56 and Wahlberg came in at 13:04.

Luciani Koroshec of the DP boys also ran his first 3200 and placed second in 10:39. Orlando Ye was third in a personal best of 10:42.

Two DP relay teams placed in the top five: the girls’ 4×800 team of Samsara Chahine, Kenly, London Wahlberg and Ellie Gleeson came in third in 10:52; and the boys’ 4×800 quartet of Tyler Jamieson, Dylan Richardson, Bennett Christensen and Logan Beckstrand finished fourth in 9:14.25.

In the 1600, Richardson (4:50), London Wahlberg (6:01) and Chahine (6:08) ran PRs in the 1600.

“It was a super great start to the season,” said coach Nash Jimenez.
