A juvenile suspected of stabbing a man in Buellton on Saturday night turned himself in to law enforcement officers two days after the incident, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.

At approximately 9:45 p.m. Saturday, deputies were dispatched to a report of a fight and possible stabbing on the 100 block of Second Street, Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Raquel Zick said.

Deputies found a man with a life-threatening knife wound to his neck and the stabbing suspect had left the scene, Zick said.

Santa Barbara County Air Support and sheriff’s K9 units responded to the area to search for the suspect, described as a white male wearing a black and blue “Thrasher” T-shirt with black jeans, black backpack with roses on straps.

While deputies searched for the suspect, nearby residents were warned about the incident and asked to call 9-1-1 if they spotted the suspect.

The search continued for several hours, but deputies did not find the alleged stabbing suspect.

On Monday, the juvenile suspect, whose name, age and hometown weren’t released, surrendered to detectives at the Santa Maria Juvenile Hall where he was being held for attempted murder, Zick said.

The victim was transported by medical helicopter to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment on Saturday night. He is in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery, Zick said Monday.

No further details were available.

Zick said anyone with information about this incident, or video surveillance recording that may have captured portions of the incident or the suspect, can contact the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Bureau at 805.681.4150.
