Lompoc City Council passed the city’s 2019-21 biennial budget June 24, with the budget slated to go into effect July 1. The council voted 4-1 in favor of passing the budget during a special City Council meeting.

The budget includes elimination of the following positions: an office staff assistant in recreation, an office staff assistant in economic development, an assistant planner, an associate planner, the senior code-enforcement officer, a development services assistant in code enforcement, the public information officer, a Fire Department battalion chief, and reduction in the fire roster for overtime by $600,000.

The budget also includes holding the following positions vacant: a park maintenance worker, a park ranger, three police officers, and various positions at the city manager’s discretion totaling $509,000.
