A Lompoc man was killed late Monday night in a single-vehicle rollover crash in Orcutt, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

Firefighters and other emergency personnel were dispatched at about 11:40 p.m. to the area of Clark Avenue and Orcutt Road.

They found a person who had been ejected from the vehicle, and had suffered major injuries, said Fire Department spokesman Mike Eliason.

The vehicle had been northbound on Highway 135 when it veered off the roadway and overturned down an embankment, coming to rest on the surface streets, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The 58-year-old victim, whose name was not released pending notification of relatives, was declared dead at the scene, and a responding ambulance and medical helicopter were canceled, Eliason told Noozhawk.

The crash was under investigation by the CHP, which said it was not known whether alcohol or drugs were a factor in the incident.
