Santa Barbara High freshman Katherine Hedrick will compete in the CIF Division 2 Track & Field Finals on Saturday at El Camino College.
Hedrick, a finals alternate after her 10th-place finisher in the 300 hurdles at last Saturday’s prelims at Moorpark High, gained entry after Calabasas High informed meet managers that Jade McDonald had scratched from the race. McDonald was the seventh-place finisher at the prelims.
Hedrick, the Channel League 300 hurdles champion, will be the ninth qualifier.
“It’s a great opportunity for a freshman to run in a meet like this,” Santa Barbara coach Olivia Perdices said. “She’s always ready for a challenge and is excited for the opportunity to extend the season.”
