A report of a possible vehicle crash in the Santa Ynez Valley turned into an investigation into a suspicious death Sunday evening, according to emergency dispatch reports.

At approximately 6:15 p.m., personnel from the Santa Barbara County fire and sheriff’s departments and the California Highway Patrol were dispatched to the incident in the 6200 block of Foxen Canyon Road near Los Olivos, according to sheriff’s spokeswoman Raquel Zick.

A CalStar medical helicopter also was requested initially.

Emergency crews determined the incident involved a suspicious death, leading sheriff’s detectives to launch an investigation.

Foxen Canyon Road was closed at Zaca Station Road, about three miles north of Highway 101, while investigators remained at the scene Sunday night.

Additional information was not immediately available.
