Three people were taken into custody following a gang-related shooting in Lompoc on Wednesday afternoon, police Capt. Kevin Martin said.

Shortly before noon, police officers responded to the 400 block of North Q Street near West Apple Avenue for a report of a shooting.

“It was determined that a rival gang member was the intended target, and a residence was struck with several bullets,” Cpl. Brian Guerra said Wednesday night. “The bullets went through a interior wall and nearly struck a elderly female that was asleep inside of the residence.”

One adult, Juan  Duarte, 18, and two male juveniles, whose names weren’t released due to their ages, were taken into custody shortly after the shooting.

The three matched the description of suspects linked to the shooting and were arrested for suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and particpation in a criminal gang.
