The UCSB men’s club volleyball team won the National Collegiate Volleyball Federation Division 1 indoor championship in Phoenix, with a two-set sweep of Virginia Tech, 25-22, 25-18.

UCSB went 17-6 in total sets and 8-1 in matches in the three-day tournament, held at the Phoenix Convention Center, April 14-16.

In the gold division playoff bracket, UCSB beat Marquette and Arizona State in three sets and topped Liberty in two in the semifinals.

UCSB won its first-day pool with Cal Poly, Minnesota and Texas-San Antonio. In its championship pool, the club defeated Penn State and USC to advance to the gold bracket.

Team members are Josh Bockholt, Slater Bird, Braden Conti, Charles DeLapa, Pieter Derksen, Max Dufresne, Connor Hanks, Ethan Hill, Ethan Mayoss, Azfal  Peermohammed, Zack Pickhart, Will Sadler and Luke Vindasius.

Bridget Kulesh is the team’s head coach, assisted by Jacob Miller,  Diego Almanza  and Cameron Allen. Noah Klotthor was the team representative.
