A bicyclist sustained serious injuries in a traffic collision with a truck on the 300 block of Castillo Street in Santa Barbara Friday afternoon.

Emergency personnel responded at around 2:42 p.m. Friday to a report of a bicyclist who had been hit by a truck.

The vehicle driver was not impaired and was cooperating with investigators, a Santa Barbara Police Department spokesperson said.

The bicyclist was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

Police closed Castillo Street between Montecito Street and Highway 101 during the investigation “due to the seriousness of the injuries to the bicyclist,” police said.

The roadway reopened around 6 p.m.
