Bishop Diego boys volleyball remained unbeaten in Tri-Valley League action with a three-set sweep of Dunn on Wednesday in the Brick House, 25-9, 25-10, 25-13.
The Cardinals are now 16-5 overall and 6-0 against league opponents, good for the top spot in the Tri-Valley League standings.
“This has been a long stretch of matches, and I think our guys are ready for Spring Break. Everyone is looking forward to a little break before we get back to work later next week,” Bishop Diego head coach Dillan Bennett said.
“I’m really pleased with our guys who came into this match, looking forward to getting into the game and playing,” Bennett said. “I thought Mikey Gomez, George Velasquez, Ian Bartley, and Kingston Bustos played really well.”
Luca Moreno-Murphy’s seven kills led the Cardinals, while Nico DeRosa tallied six kills and six aces. Tyler Roberts and Mikey Gomez each chipped in five kills, while Kingston Bustos ended with 38 assists.
“Kingston set a 5-1 the whole match for the first time in his career and he’s developing into a great option as a setter,” Bennett said. “Mikey took some good swings, and Ian and George both went on a few good serving runs.”
“Luca Moreno-Murphy played well in the front row with his attacking. Nico DeRosa continued his strong play from the back court and chipped in some good swings in the front row. I was also pleased to see Tyler Roberts get back into the swing of things today and find his serving rhythm.”
