The corner of Cabrillo Boulevard and Los Patos Way has quietly become one of the most exciting parts of Santa Barbara.
The Post opened late last year, and individual retail shops and restaurants have steadily opened since. The most recent is the Ospi, a modern Italian concept from Jackson and Melissa Kalb.
The restaurant serves homemade pastas and pizzas alongside craft cocktails. Breakfast is also on the menu.
“Montecito’s doing weekday breakfast from 8-11,” the company said in an Instagram post. “Get here for whipped ricotta and raspberry jam fett’unta, Italian countryside breakfast, lemon ricotta pancakes and more!”
The company has restaurants in Venice, Brentwood, Costa Mesa and near Montecito, at 1801 E. Cabrillo Blvd.
According to a press statement, Ospi Montecito is looking to build on the success of its other restaurants, and “serving up our must-try house-made pastas and crispy romana-tonda pizzas, plus our first-ever breakfast menu, and an exclusive wood-grilled selection featuring locally sourced meat, seafood and seasonal vegetables from our top-quality vendors.”

Ospi also said its “thoughtfully curated wines and inventive craft cocktails make it the perfect place for a dining destination any time of day.”
“Ospi Montecito reimagines Italian cuisine with modern sophistication, delivering a dining experience as effortlessly refined as the community it calls home,” according to the statement.

The Post is a collection of 13 hand-selected specialty merchants and destination restaurants, aimed at serving the community as a gathering spot for Montecito residents and visitors, according to a news release.
Joey Miller and David Fishbein, the developers, are working to restore and preserve the six historical, architecturally significant buildings on Los Patos Way, “creating a thoughtful selection of traditional brands, up-and-coming designers, and dynamic dining options.”

Cox and Charter Might Merge
Cox Communications, the largest cable provider on the South Coast, may merge with the largest cable company in the country, Charter Communications.
The two companies announced that they have entered into an agreement to join forces.
The agreement would “create an industry leader in mobile and broadband communications services, seamless video entertainment, and high-quality customer service delivering powerful benefits for American employees, customers, communities and shareholders,” the companies said in a news release. “The proposed transaction values Cox Communications at an enterprise value of approximately $34.5 billion.”
The companies would take the Cox Communications name. The deal still must be approved by federal antitrust authorities.
