Blind Fitness has been invited to attend and participate in the 28th Annual Howard Shaw Memorial California Blind, Adaptive & Disabled Winter Golf Classic, Tuesday, Jan. 27 at Sandpiper Golf Course in Goleta.
This annual tournament brings together blind, adaptive and disabled golfers from across California and beyond, celebrating skill, inclusion, and community through the game of golf.
“Blind Fitness’s invitation marks an exciting milestone for the organization and its growing adaptive golf programming,” the group said.
Blind Fitness will participate in the event in partnership with Olde School Golf School, led by Robert Kotowski, a PGA professional known for his long-standing dedication to coaching adaptive athletes.
“Coach Kotowski’s inclusive, confidence-centered approach has helped expand access to golf for athletes of all abilities and backgrounds,” Blind Fitness said.
The Howard Shaw Memorial Classic also brings together a community of organizations committed to inclusion and empowerment, including Bold Beauty Project, Hidden Wings School for Autism, PGA HOPE Disabled Veterans Program, and Eyeshine, all who contribute to the tournament’s spirit of collaboration, accessibility, and shared purpose.
“This invitation reflects the strength of partnerships and the collective impact of organizations working to expand access to sport and recreation,” said Tania Isaac-Dutton, executive director of Blind Fitness.
“To be alongside such inspiring groups, and to do so with the leadership of Coach Kotowski and Olde School Golf School, underscores what’s possible when our community comes together,” she said.
Blind Fitness’ participation aligns with its mission to empower blind and low vision individuals through adaptive sports while cultivating a robust network of skilled sighted guides, the group said.
The organization works to create pathways for athletes and volunteers to build confidence, develop skills, and experience the joy of movement in inclusive environments.
Blind Fitness is a Santa Barbara–based nonprofit dedicated to empowering blind and low-vision individuals through inclusive movement, adaptive sports, and community connection.
Blind Fitness programs include adaptive fitness classes, outdoor recreation, and volunteer guide education.
