Bishop Diego boys basketball dominated from start to finish on its way to an 84-23 rout of rival Cate on Friday night inside the Brick House.
“We came out with a lot of energy tonight. I was very happy with the team,” Bishop Diego head coach Caleb Richey said. “It was fun to see everyone working together on both sides of the ball. They’re having fun and I’m very proud of each and every one of them.”
With the victory, the Cardinals remained undefeated in Tri-Valley League play at 6-0.
Aidan Padilla erupted for Bishop Diego, pouring in a game-high 33 points while shooting 67% from the field to outscore the Rams by himself. Meanwhile, Crew Sjovold joined him in double figures with 11 points.
Oxnard 61, Dos Pueblos 57
The Chargers narrowly fell at home to the Yellow Jackets on Friday at Sovine Gym.
Dos Pueblos got out to a strong start, building up a 17-12 lead by the end of the first quarter. However, Oxnard adjusted and cut the advantage to just one point heading into halftime.
From there, the Yellow Jackets stepped up on the defensive end and held on down the stretch for the win.
“I was really proud of the way that our bench stepped up,” Dos Pueblos head coach Joe Zamora said. “Jordan Zamora, Clayton Bentley and Stanley Chen did a great job for extended minutes. We’re going to need to rely on them to help us down the stretch for the second half of league.”
The Chargers are now 12-9 overall and 3-5 against league opponents.
Santa Ynez 57, Templeton 43
The Pirates used a balanced attack to take down Templeton on Friday night.
Wesley Satterthwaite and Jude Pritchard each dropped a team-high 14 points to go along with seven and five rebounds, respectively.
Meanwhile, Gael Villalobos chipped in 12 points and seven rebounds in the victory.
Santa Clara 70, Laguna Blanca 50
The shorthanded Owls dropped a league matchup with Santa Clara on Friday.
Laguna Blanca was playing with just five players due to injuries, including four freshmen and one sophomore.
Max Miller led the Owls with 21 points, while Holden Pak tallied 17 points and four assists.
