Santa Barbara High boys basketball dominated the first quarter and never looked back en route to a 77-52 win over Oxnard on Wednesday inside J.R. Richards Gym.
The Dons were in complete control early, opening the game by outscoring the Yellow Jackets 25-9 in the first thanks in part to 10 points from Brent Sharpton.
Santa Barbara High continued to roll in the second, scoring 20 more points to extend its lead to 45-25 heading into halftime.
The second half was more of a defensive battle, but the Dons maintained their comfortable lead on their way to the win.
“I keep challenging this team, and they keep responding,” Santa Barbara High head coach Greg Zuffelato said. “They impress me more and more each game. We’ve put together a long string of great starts, and as Coach Hangtin keeps reminding our guys, it’s difficult to play from behind. When we start as we have, we’re difficult to beat.”
Sharpton led the way with 16 points, while Blake Lee followed with 11 points in a game that saw seven different Dons record a bucket.
Santa Barbara High (11-7, 5-0 Channel League) will be on the road against Ventura on Friday.
