Bishop Diego boys golf remained undefeated on the young season with a victory over Providence on Thursday at Santa Barbara Golf Club.
The Cardinals dominated the matchup, combining for a team score of 194 to beat out the Patriots’ score of 346.
“The Providence team has many beginners, and is showing some promise for the future,” Bishop Diego head coach Leo Ibarra said.
Jack Eliassen led the charge for Bishop Diego, putting together an impressive round and ending with a three-under-par 33.
He was followed by teammates Ben Zoltoski (38), William Scribner (40), Luke Eliassen (41) and Joe DeRosa (43).
The Cardinals (5-0-1, 3-0 Tri-Valley) will host Malibu for another league contest next week.
Dos Pueblos 396, Camarillo 414
The Chargers earned a non-league victory over Westlake on Thursday at Sterling Hills Golf Course.
The Dos Pueblos duo of Colt Roberts and Sam MacNaughton each shot a 78 to lead the team and the match, picking up co-medalist honors.
They were joined by fellow Chargers Parker Hickman (79), Orlando Ramirez (80) and Coulter Jay (81).
“I was proud of the way my team was able to have five great rounds with a season low team score,” Dos Pueblos head coach Kevin Ahlers said. “I was also content with the way my team persevered through the scorching and gusting winds.”
Dos Pueblos (5-3) will begin Channel League action next week.
Santa Barbara High 381, Rio Mesa 452
The Dons turned in their lowest score of the season in a Channel League victory over the Spartans on Thursday at Santa Barbara Golf Club, a par 70.
Santa Barbara High’s Logan Gankas was the match’s top golfer, shooting an even-par 70 on his way to medalist honors.
The other Don golfers were Jack Alzina (75), Dimitri Tar (77), Everyn Kneafsey (79), Owen Quirk (80) and Emmett Wong (86).
“It was a very warm winter day and every Don shot below the temperature of 91 degrees,” Santa Barbara High head coach Ryan Throop said. “I was proud of the way the boys persevered through the hot temperatures.”
The Dons (4-1, 2-0 Channel League) will host Ventura High on Tuesday at Santa Barbara Golf Club.
Foothill Tech 227, Laguna Blanca 245
The Owls dropped their matchup with Foothill Tech on Thursday.
Leo Dalporto and Harry Ryan led the way for Laguna Blanca, each shooting a 46. Meanwhile, Gus Graham and Max Miller followed with their scores of 52.
