Santa Barbara High boys golf captured a non-league victory over Santa Ynez High on Thursday at Alisal River Course.
The Dons shot a combined team score of 405, while the Pirates ended the day with a 435 on their home course.
Alex Ortega of Santa Barbara High was the lone golfer to shoot in the 70s, earning medalist honors with his score of 73.
He was followed by Jack Alzina (81), Peyton Webley (82), Logan Gankas (85), Owen Quirk (85) and Dimitri Tar (86).
“It was very hot at the course today, and I am impressed by the boy’s determination to finish well,” Santa Barbara High head coach Ryan Throop said. “The Pirates of Santa Ynez are a well-coached team, and it was fortunate to come out on the winning side.”
The Dons (6-1, 3-0 Channel League) will take on Rio Mesa on Tuesday at Spanish Hills Country Club.
Camarillo 372, Dos Pueblos 413
The Chargers dropped their non-league contest with Camarillo on Thursday at Spanish Hills.
“I was happy that everyone improved their score from the first time they played at Spanish Hills,” Dos Pueblos head coach Kevin Ahlers said. “I was also glad to see Brooklyn (Bustos) make his return after breaking his collarbone in the offseason.”
Colt Roberts shot a 78 to lead the Chargers, while Connor Nightingale and Sam MacNaughton each ended the day one stroke behind at 79. They were joined by teammates Parker Hickman and Bustos at 87 and 90, respectively.
Dos Pueblos (7-4, 1-0 Channel League) will host San Marcos on Tuesday at Glen Annie Golf Course.
