Santa Barbara High and Dos Pueblos boys soccer fought to a 1-1 crosstown rivalry draw on Friday night at Peabody Stadium.
The two sides stood tall on the defensive end in the early stages, as both backlines turned away any offensive pushes to keep the game scoreless heading into halftime.
After some back-and-forth play to begin the second half, the Chargers broke through in the 55th minute with a goal by Logan Stevens.
However, Santa Barbara High answered just five minutes later with a goal of its own to even the score.
From there, both defenses regained control of the game and it ended in a 1-1 tie when the final whistle sounded.
“I was very proud of the boys for being able to get a result away from home despite the string of tough results as of late,” Dos Pueblos coach Oscar Garcia said. “Chris de Luna was an anchor for us in the midfield all game… Keenan Bower and Brandon Stock gave us lots of strong minutes in the back.”
The Chargers (6-8-4, 2-6-1 Channel League) will host Ventura on Tuesday, while the Dons (6-7-2, 3-5-1 CL) will be on the road against Oxnard on Tuesday.

Oxnard 2, San Marcos 1
The Royals came up just short in a battle for first place in the Channel League with the Yellowjackets on Friday night at Warkentin Stadium.
“Oxnard worked hard and capitalized on their chances,” San Marcos head coach Paul McLean said. “We played well and created lots of chances tonight. Yael Solano and Sergio Ramirez did a great job settling the ball down and connecting our backline to our attacking group.
“Abe Jimenez, Eddie Perez and Wes Monroy did a great job breaking up play and finding passes. These experiences will make us better and we will improve.”
The lone goal for the Royals came in the first half when Monroy deposited a 30-yard free kick into the top corner of the net for a 1-0 lead. However, Oxnard ended the game with two unanswered goals to escape with the win.
San Marcos, now 6-2-1 in league play and one game behind Oxnard in first place, will be on the road against Pacifica on Tuesday.
Fillmore 1, Carpinteria High 0
The Warriors struggled to get anything going offensively in a road loss to Fillmore on Friday.
Fillmore scored the only goal of the game in the 20th minute in the middle of a dominant first half. Carpinteria found more of a groove in the second but couldn’t turn it into a goal, resulting in the loss.
“It was a bad day for all of us as a team,” Carpinteria High head coach Edgar Mendoza said. “We looked out of it for most of the game, but ended up picking it.
“We tried to find the net but couldn’t find a clear shot on goal. It was just a bump on the road, but we can overcome this loss and hopefully get back on track.”
