Santa Barbara High boys tennis secured a 12-6 crosstown rivalry victory over San Marcos on Tuesday in Santa Barbara.

“I was really proud,” Santa Barbara High head coach Felipe Saffie said of his team’s showing. “The team had a great day and put up a solid performance across the board.”

Beckett McManigal and Huxley McGetrick led the charge for the Dons, as they each secured 3-0 sweeps in their singles matchups.

Meanwhile, the San Marcos duo of Jacob Cantrell and Cade Campbell went 3-0 on the day, while Nico Holve and Eliot Grey combined to go 2-1. Braden Stewart also picked up a comeback singles win for the Royals.

“We’ve been working on being aggressive at the net recently and it’s starting to pay off,” San Marcos head coach Emily Carver said. “We still have some areas of growth, but this match just adds fuel to our fire.”

The Dons will be on the road against Pacifica on Thursday, while the Royals will head down to take on the Tritons next Tuesday.

Carpinteria High 10, Hueneme 8

The Warriors pulled out a tight Citrus Coast League battle with Hueneme on Tuesday.

“I am definitely glad we won, and not to take anything away from Hueneme, but we surely made it much harder on ourselves,” Carpinteria High head coach Charles Bryant said. “Hueneme is always a scrappy, never-say-die type of team and they made us play a lot of shots.”

The Warrior duo of Servando Campuzano and Ethan Almgren won all three of their matches, while John Morrison/Tiago El-Aaidi went 2-1 and Hayden Nordholm/Liam Killen tacked on one victory.

In singles, Carpinteria’s Edwin Hernandez and Kamran Dadvar each went 2-1 on the day.

The Warriors (5-1, 2-0 CCL) will take on Malibu on Thursday in a battle of undefeated Citrus Coast League squads.
