Caltrans construction to replace a drainage culvert along Highway 101 on the Gaviota Coast will cause a lane closure for the next month, officials said.
Construction started Tuesday to remove and replace a culvert that runs below the southbound Highway 101 lanes near Naples and Dos Pueblos Canyon, west of Goleta, Caltrans District 5 spokesman Kevin Drabinski said.
The left lane, also known as the No. 1 lane, is closed 24/7 during this work, and then crews will shift to close the right lane, according to Caltrans.

There will be concrete barriers between vehicles and construction crews, for the safety of workers and drivers, Drabinski noted.
A southbound Highway 101 lane closure will be in effect through mid-October from Dos Pueblos Canyon Road, Exit 113, to Cathedral Oaks Road/Hollister Avenue, Exit 110.
Travelers, including southbound morning commuters, should expect delays of up to 15 minutes, Drabinski said.
Brough Construction of Arroyo Grande is the contractor for the $300,000 drainage culvert replacement project.
