Carpinteria High baseball combined for a one-hit shutout of Coastal Christian en route to a 9-0 win on Thursday at Porter Field in Arroyo Grande.
Gabe Martinez, Jonah Hernandez, Dallas Betholic, Sam Medel, Charlotte Cooney, Micah Smith and Gabe Chung tossed one inning apiece to help lead the Warriors to the victory.
Meanwhile, Carpinteria dropped four runs in the first inning, including a two-run double by Bartholic, to take an early lead and never look back.
Smith, Hernandez, Chung and Cooney all tallied a pair of hits for the Warriors, while Smith, Chung and Cooney all drove in runs.
“The offense set the tone in the first today, which eased the pressure and simplified the game plan,” Carpinteria High head coach Pat Cooney said. “It was ideal to get the run support on a day where we knew that the whole staff would pitch and the whole roster would play.
The live action for some of our players returning from injury or illness was really valuable. We are coming back from a few days off during Spring Break, so it was great to have a game where every player played and contributed. Coastal Christian was a fantastic host and is a team that is headed in the right direction.”
The Warriors (10-3) will host Santa Ynez for a non-league game on Saturday at 11 a.m.
