Carpinteria High boys soccer kicked off the new year with a 1-0 Citrus Coast League win over Fillmore on Monday at Cate’s Meldman Field in Carpinteria.

The lone score of the night came in the 15th minute when Adrian Levinson deposited his shot into the back of the net for the early lead.

The Warrior defense, anchored by goalkeeper Drew Filippini, held strong for the rest of the matchup and escaped with the tight victory.

“I am really proud of my boys today, we set our goal by starting off the year right with a win,” Carpinteria High head coach Edgar Mendoza said.” They played strong and with a lot of organization. I want to praise the whole defense and Drew Filippini for that important clean sheet.”

The Warriors will be on the road against Channel Islands on Wednesday.
