Carpinteria High boys volleyball dropped a back-and-forth matchup with a strong Malibu team on Monday in Carpinteria.

“The boys battled the entire way and showed a lot of heart,” Carpinteria High head coach Favian Muralles said. “With Malibu being ranked so highly, I’m really proud of how our boys stepped up and competed. It’s exciting to see their growth as a team.”

Alan Maya recorded a double-double for the Warriors with 13 kills and 17 assists, while Cole Rowbottom led the offensive attack with 14 kills.

Rafael Cintura and Alariuziel Rodriguez combined for 64 digs and ended the night with seven and six kills, respectively.

Carpinteria High (8-3, 4-2 Citrus Coast League) will be on the road against Hueneme on Thursday.
