The Carpinteria High surf team captured a 46-42 victory over local foe Santa Barbara High last weekend in a Scholastic Surf Series matchup.

The Warriors remained undefeated on the season at 4-0 with the win, while the Dons dropped to 1-3. Both teams will cap off their season on Sunday, Jan. 25 at C-Street in Ventura.

Team Competition

Carpinteria began the day with a strong showing in the Men’s Shortboard, with Owen Reeves, Wyatt Pitterle and Gus Bridgeford taking second, third and fourth places, respectively, in the first heat.

They were followed by a first-place finish in Heat 2 by Maddox Keet, who was followed by Luke Donahue (3rd) and Reid Oleson (5th).

In the Women’s Shortboard, Carpinteria’s Izzy Scott finished atop the podium in first place, while teammate Charlotte Cooney slid into third.

Cooney found more success in the Women’s Longboard, placing second just ahead of fellow Warrior Hudson Findley in third place.

Keet continued his strong day with a third-place showing in the Men’s Longboard, with Noah Morente and Reid Oleson following in fifth and sixth place, respectively.

Reeves put the cherry on top of the Carpinteria victory with a first-place performance in the Body Board event.

The duo of Reeves and Keet shared the team high in points scored, while Cooney was the third-highest scorer.

Individuals

Scott recorded the top finish for the Warriors in individual competition, placing second in the Women’s Shortboard. In the Men’s Shortboard, Pitterle took fourth.

Keet and Reeves each placed third in their individual events, with Keet competing in the Men’s Longboard and Reeves taking on the Body Board.
