The Carpinteria High swim squads cruised to a Citrus Coast League sweep of Malibu High on Thursday in Malibu.

The Warrior girls team came out on top 100-28, while the boys squad rolled to a 108-53 victory.

Strong individual swims combined with solid relay performances allowed the Warriors to steadily build their lead as the meet progressed,” Carpinteria High head coach Jon Otsuki said.

“With the sweep, the Warriors continue to build momentum early in the season while showcasing the depth and balance of both squads as they move forward in the schedule.”

Izzy Scott (50 freestyle, 100 freestyle) and Lucy Moore (200 freestyle, 500 freestyle) led the way for the girls team as the Warrior double individual event winners.

Madison Lee (200 IM), Hazel Dugre (100 fly) and Lucia Smith (100 backstroke) all won their events as well, while Scott, Moore, Dugre and Lee finished well under the CIF-SS Div. 2 consideration time in the 4×100 freestyle relay.

Meanwhile, Jake Ehlers shined for the Carpinteria High boys team with CIF-SS D3 consideration times in the 100 freestyle (50.33), 200 freestyle (1:53.81) and in his 23.11-second split of the 4×50 freestyle relay.

“[Ehlers] had exceptional races today, executing his swims perfectly in early-season form,” Otsuki said. “We are training very hard, and he is already posting fast times. We’re excited to see what is in store for him going forward.”

Chris Reed secured a pair of first-place performances, crossing the finish line first in the 100 backstroke and 200 IM races. Sky Korling won the 100 butterfly, and Stefano Piccoletti narrowly beat fellow Warrior Ryder Shaw in the 500 freestyle.

The Warriors will host crosstown rival Cate on Friday at Carpinteria Community Pool.
