Carpinteria High track & field split its Citrus Coast League meet with Channel Islands on Wednesday.
The Warrior girls (3-0) rolled to a 90-37 victory, while the boys team (2-1) fell by a score of 81-55.
“It was another day of strong performances for the Warriors,” Carpinteria High head coach Van Latham said. “We had numerous PRs in almost every event. The sprints were hampered by a fairly strong headwind. The sprinters still ran well, nonetheless.
“We are making good progress. The girls continued to roll while the boys suffered their first loss to the defending league champions.”
Vivian Huskins had another strong day for the Warrior girls, winning the 100-meter (12.92) and 200-meter (26.35) as an individual and joining Kaydance Gardner, Isla Moore and Giarys Gomez for a first-place finish in the 4×100 relay.
Meanwhile, Halleh Gahan also secured a pair of individual event wins, taking first in the 110 hurdles (18.96) and 300 hurdles (52.56).
Jacqueline Guadian (3,200 meter, 12:22.35), Kiana Kiah (800 meter, 2:36.81), Marely Avalos (shot put, 31-6.5), Natalia Andrade (high jump, 4-4), Callie Labistour (long jump, 14-11) and Gomez (400 meter, 1:04.51) rounded out the girls individual winners.
The 4×400 relay squad of Cailyn Gillen, Lyra Moore, Gia Sharma and Kiah won their race with a mark of 4:36.03.
On the boys side, the Warriors had one double individual event winner as Jeshua Magana won the 100-meter and 200-meter races with times of 12.13 and 24.51 seconds, respectively.
Max Soto (3,200 meter, 10:04.72), Josiah Gonzales (high jump, 5-6), Eli Perez (shot put, 40-11) and Edwin Nova (discus, 119-9) also finished first in their respective events.
