A GoFundMe campaign went up over the weekend for Adriana Gallardo, a Carpinteria woman who reportedly died suddenly on Saturday due to complications from a lung issue, her family said.

Gallardo leaves behind a newborn daughter, Isabella, who was born last Wednesday.

Gallardo’s sister, Monica, said on the GoFundMe that Gallardo “was so excited about the arrival of her first daughter.”

Isabella is now being cared for by Gallardo’s parents, her sister said.

Carpinteria Sin Fronteras, a local immigration advocacy group, said on social media that volunteers helped Gallardo coordinate safe rides to and from her medical appointments.

Any donated funds will help cover Gallardo’s funeral expenses and support her family. The campaign had raised more than $7,660 of the $30,000 goal as of Monday evening.

“Adriana carried so much love and hope for her daughter,” volunteers said on Instagram. “We are deeply saddened by her sudden passing. We ask our community to please keep her family in your prayers as they gather the strength to move forward and care for Adriana’s beautiful baby girl.”
