The Righetti High School Drama Department will present “The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical,” in the campus Black Box Theater (room 403) 7 p.m. March 19, 20, 26, 27 and 28, and 1 p.m. March 21 and 28.

“The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical” is a high-octane rock adventure that transforms Rick Riordan’s bestselling novel into a hilarious and heartfelt stage spectacle.

Percy Jackson is a troubled teenager who can’t stop getting expelled, until he discovers the reason: he’s a demigod, the son of Poseidon.

When Zeus’s master lightning bolt is stolen, Percy becomes the prime suspect. To clear his father’s name and prevent an all-out war between the gods, he must: survive Camp Half-Blood; embark on a killer quest; and confront the Underworld.

“This show has truly been such a magical, thrilling experience that has helped me grow in unimaginable ways,” said Darren Paul, a Righetti junior, who’s playing lead of Percy Jackson. “You can tell when people truly love what they’re doing and if you wanna see a show where the cast loves each other and what they’re doing, come see ‘The Lightning Thief.’ You’ll 100% have an electrifying experience.”

“This production has a piece of my heart,” said Grace Black, a Righetti senior and PCPA applicant hopeful, who plays lead Annabeth Chase. “I love everyone in the cast so deeply and couldn’t be happier that this is my senior show. Everyone has put so much soul into their performance and characters.

“If you love live theater with passion and diverse subject matter, then ‘The Lightning Thief’ is for you.”

“The ‘Lightning Thief’ musical is truly full of exciting energy and great songs telling the Percy Jackson story that so many teens and tweens adore.,” said teacher, Elesa Carlson, Righetti High drama program director and 2024 Performing Arts Teacher of the Year.

“Our special space really pulls the audience into the action, right along with our amazing cast and crew. This is a must-see musical and so much fun to be part of,” she said.
