Cate boys volleyball pulled out a five-set rivalry victory over Laguna Blanca on Tuesday in Carpinteria, 25-27, 25-14, 25-15, 23-25, 15-4.

“It was great to see us battle back to win a close fourth (set),” Laguna Blanca head coach Jason Donnelly said. “We could have rolled over, and the boys responded well and played one of our cleanest games of the year. Cate played really well the whole night and deserves credit for the win.”

The Owls were led by Soren Alldredge, who ended the night with 23 kills and seven digs. Meanwhile, Baylor Wilson collected 40 assists and 10 digs, and Lawler Jackson tallied 13 kills.

“Freshman EJ Niksto went on a late service run to help us take the first game,” Donnelly said. “Unfortunately, we were unable to sustain the momentum and quickly found ourselves in a big hole.

“We’re still a relatively young team, and tonight was part of our learning process. We’ll get back in the gym tomorrow and figure it out.”
