A vegetation fire burned nearly 3 acres in the Santa Ynez Valley on Wednesday before firefighters stopped the forward progress of the blaze.
At about 12:15 p.m., personnel from the Santa Barbara County Fire Department and Los Padres National Forest were dispatched to the incident near Woodstock and Long Valley roads in Los Olivos.
Air tankers and the county Air Support Unit helicopters also responded.
At least one structure was threatened by the fire that was started by welders working in the area, according to emergency dispatch traffic.
“A written warning was provided and educated welder on how to do it safely in the future,” said Karen Cruz-Orduña, a Fire Department spokeswoman.
By 12:45 p.m., firefighters began canceling aircraft, bulldozers and other resources en route.
Shortly after 2 p.m., they declared the blaze contained at 2.85 acres, Cruz-Orduña said.
An investigator also responded to the scene to determine how the fire started.
Law enforcement officers were dispatched to provide traffic control in the area.
The incident occurred a day after another fire near Highway 101 at the Nojoqui Grade snarled traffic.
The series of fires burned 25.3 acres and was 80% contained as of Wednesday morning.
Firefighters expected to continue to mop-up hot spots throughout the day at the incident.
