Beyond its live stage performances, PCPA (Pacific Conservatory Theatre) is offering Central Coast community members a variety of theatrical opportunities through its Youth & Community Arts (Y&CA).
From touring plays and workshops to special events and summer camps, Y&CA offers a variety of entry points into the world of theater-making and community connection.
“Building on the belief that theater is for everyone, the programs aim to invigorate new generations of audiences, inspire emerging artists, and build empathy through the arts,” PCPA said.
This season YC&A’s new programming includes collaboration with Tierra Blanca Arts Center to present the Spanish-language pastorela “El Ermitanio;” and classroom workshops supporting PCPA productions of “Much Ado About Nothing” and “Sanctuary City.”
There are also partnerships with Allan Hancock College Pride Alliance, Gala Pride and Diversity Center, Hope Esperanza, and Pacific Pride Foundation on the new and recurring PCPA Pride Nights; and backstage tours of Severson and Marian theaters.
A new Instagram account (@pcpayouthandcommunityarts) features educational materials supporting PCPA’s season and highlighting company members and company life.
Y&CA is also partnering with the Santa Maria Inn for a one-night-only Murder Mystery on May 9.
PCPA Y&CA will again offer its youth summer camps serving kids ages 8-12 and 13-18. Registration is now open for Camp Willy Wonka and Teatro PCPA.
