The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office was conducting a search for a possibly armed subject in the Toro Canyon area Wednesday afternoon.
Deputies were searching for a person who reportedly brandished a firearm, according to emergency radio traffic.
The Sheriff’s Office issued a shelter-in-place for residents in the western Carpinteria Valley during the search, but lifted it as of 2:30 p.m., spokesperson Raquel Zick said.
The incident was reported at 11:34 a.m. The shelter-in-place was lifted around 2:30 p.m.
The suspect was located near the 3900 block of Foothill Road and taken into custody, Zick said at 4:18 p.m.
