Dos Pueblos boys soccer picked up its first Channel League win of the season with a 2-0 victory over Buena on Thursday at Scott O’Leary Stadium.
“We got a much-needed win tonight where we were able to dictate the pace of play throughout the game,” Charger coach Oscar Garcia said. “The team really came together after a rocky start to give us a good final league game of 2025.”
Much of the first half went scoreless until Dos Pueblos’ Owen Ribbens buried a free kick into the back of the net to take a 1-0 lead into halftime.
The Chargers carried that momentum into the second half, as Brandon Stock found his way up the field and deposited a rocket of a shot past the Buena goalkeeper to give his team insurance with a 2-0 lead.
From there, the Dos Pueblos defense anchored down and goalkeeper Kieran Buell earned his first clean sheet of Channel League play.
“Brandon Stock continues to be an anchor in the back playing both left and right back throughout the game, but also he showed a great ability to get up the field,” Garcia said. “It was great to have senior defender Kevin Lopez Muzquiz back in the lineup tonight. It meant a lot to have him out there.”
The Chargers are now 4-4-2 overall and 1-3-0 against Channel League opponents.
