Dos Pueblos freshman Kacey Hurley hit a first-inning grand slam, and Charger pitchers Kaitlyn Ashby and Georgia Wilson combined on a one-hit shutout in a 14-0 win over visiting Santa Barbara Friday.

The Chargers ran their Channel League record to 6-0 with the win. They are 11-3 overall.

With Dos Pueblos up 1-0 in the first after Riley Monroe doubled in Bella Nuño, Hurley came up with the bases loaded and hit a 1-1 pitch over the left field fence for her first career home run.

“Kacey Hurley had a great game today, both at the plate and behind the plate,” Charger coach Mike Gerken said of the catcher. “Her teammates were really excited about the grand slam.”

Eleanor Lemon went 3-for-3 with two RBI, and Rylee Cathcart went 2-for-2 with two doubles to lead a 16-hit Charger effort.

“We also great great hitting performances from Eleanor and Rylee Cathcart today. Both kids took some good swings and really drove the ball well today,” Gerken said.

Dos Pueblos scored three in the second on a two-run double from Anastasia Brunner and a single by Kaitlyn Ashby.

Hurley led off the fourth with a double and later scored on Eleanor Lemon’s two run single to left. Doubles by Summer McCeney and Rylee Cathcart rounded out the scoring for the Chargers.
