Dos Pueblos girls basketball dominated from start to finish en route to a 61-11 rout of rival Santa Barbara High on Tuesday inside Sovine Gym in Goleta.

The Charger defense was stifling in the opening quarter, holding the Dons to just two points while building up a commanding 18-2 advantage.

Santa Barbara High found some more success in the second with seven points, but Dos Pueblos maintained control of the game and led 33-9 heading into halftime.

The Charger defense came out of the locker room with the same intensity as the opening tip-off, keeping the Dons off the board in the third and allowing just two points in the fourth to earn the lopsided 61-11 win.

Dos Pueblos had seven different players record a bucket, with Carly Letendre, Penelope Frazer and Kindah Ahmad-Reda all reaching double figures with 16, 14 and 13 points, respectively.

The Chargers (9-9, 3-1 Channel League) will continue their rivalry week with a road matchup with San Marcos on Thursday at 7 p.m. inside the Thunderhut.

Ventura 56, San Marcos 40

The Royals got out to a slow start and couldn’t recover in a loss to the Cougars on Tuesday.

“We did a better job competing in the second half, getting after loose balls, holding Ventura to a shot a possession and getting deflections,” San Marcos head coach Devin Uyesaka said. “Ventura is a very good team; they execute very well and are well coached.”

Jada Ahmad accounted for the majority of the Royals’ points with 22 of her own.
