The Dos Pueblos girls beach volleyball team opened it season with a 5-0 sweep of Arroyo Grande Thursday.

1s Chloe Hoffman and Lucy Speier won 21-16, 21-9
2s Malia Brofferio and Jayden Jones won 21-18, 21-13
3s Makeila Cervantes and Maddy Jones won 21-14, 21-18
4s Addison Low and Sonia Mancuso won 21-10, 21-14
5s Layla McQuiggan and Ella Benson won 21-11, 21-7
Charger coach Mike Fitzgerald was pleased with the doubles pairings and the work the girls put in.
“Nice season opener versus a solid Arroyo Grande team,” he said. “We have Lucy Speier playing up at the 1s for the first time with Chloe, and I thought she handled the situation well.
“Malia and Jayden both played at the highest level in their careers making the 2s, and played consistent volleyball throughout their match to show everyone that it wasn’t a fluke that they earned their seed during the week.
“Makeila and Maddy playing for the first time together, having been solid all week in practice and played a great match verssus a very strong 3s team.
Addison Low and Sonia Mancuso won their first Varsity match of their careers dominating at the 4s, while Layla McQuiggan and Ella Benson continued where they left off last season by out classing their 5s opponents in quick fashion.”
