Dos Pueblos girls wrestling took 23rd place in the 39-team Western Varsity Lady Pioneer Challenge on Saturday in Anaheim.

The Chargers totaled 38 team points with four wrestlers competing against a large pool of athletes.

“The girls’ team did very well today, with all girls showing grit and picking up some wins,” Dos Pueblos head coach Matthew Bernard said. “They continue to improve and get better with each competition.”

Lesly De La Rosa-Reyes was the top wrestler for the Chargers, going 3-1 and finishing in second place in the 140-pound division.

“Lesly had some tough battles, found a way and came out on top, building on her momentum from the Reno tournament. It’s exciting to watch her work,” Bernard said.

Meanwhile, Estephany Rodriquez (130 lbs.) and Sabrina Borgia (120 lbs.) each went 2-2 to earn seven team points. Aska Rios rounded out the Dos Pueblos wrestlers with one win at 110 pounds.

The Charger girls will be back in action for a Channel League dual meet against Buena on Thursday in Ventura.
