Dos Pueblos High School is proud to announce the appointment of Nate Holmes as the new
Head Coach of the Girls Volleyball program, continuing the Chargers’ tradition of excellence both on and off the court.

A Goleta native and Dos Pueblos alumnus, Holmes brings deep local roots and lifelong
volleyball experience to the role.

He has been immersed in the sport since the age of eight, playing beach volleyball at East Beach, beginning indoor club volleyball at 12, and competing all four years at Dos Pueblos High School.

During his time as a Charger, Holmes was mentored by respected coaches Chris Hughes, Chris Jones, and Ehren Hug—relationships that helped shape his coaching philosophy and passion for giving back to the program that influenced him so greatly.

Following high school, Holmes played competitively for the club volleyball team at UC Berkeley, where he earned a degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

While living in San Francisco after graduation, Holmes and his wife, Victoria, ultimately chose to return to Goleta to build roots and reconnect with the community that raised them.

In 2024, Holmes was named Head Coach of Beach Volleyball at Dos Pueblos, where he quickly made a positive impact working with Charger athletes and further strengthening the program’s culture.

“I am honored to be offered the opportunity to build on the strong foundation and culture that Megan O’Carroll and those before her have established,” Holmes said. “I’m beyond stoked to continue pushing the Chargers to new heights.”

“Coach Holmes has done a fantastic job with our Beach Volleyball programs and we are excited to see the combination of technical knowledge, Charger pride, and commitment to student-athlete development he will bring for continued success with the girls volleyball
program,” Dos Pueblos athletic director Sienna van Alphen said.
