The Down Syndrome Association of Santa Barbara County is calling for nominations for this year’s Extraordinary Educator Award.

The award is given to the best people who work with the local special needs community — teachers, therapists, volunteers, etc.

Nominations should be emailed to melissa@dsasbc.or, or call 805-886-4411 by Friday, Oct. 6.

The award will be presented at the 13th Annual Hoedown, 5-9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Santa Barbara Carriage Museum.

Tickets are available online at the Down Syndrome Association of Santa Barbara County Facebook page or DSASBC.org and at the door.

The evening will include a barbecue dinner, dancing to live music from Dusty Jugz a.k.a.The Rincons, silent auction, and activities for kids and more.

Ticket prices at $20 for adults, $10 for kids, include dinner, dancing and activities.
