Esther Padilla passed away peacefully on Dec. 6, 2025. She was born on April 6, 1937 to Secundino and Epifania Vega of Carpinteria.
Esther was raised in Carpinteria, where she attended Aliso and Carpinteria Elementary schools, later moving on to Carpinteria High School during her freshman year.
Before her sophomore year, her family moved to Santa Barbara, where she attended Santa Barbara High School and graduated in 1956.
It was during her high school years that Esther met Joe Padilla, who became the love of her life. After graduating, they were married and shared 63 loving years.
Joe worked relentlessly to provide for his family, allowing Esther to devote herself fully to raising their children Joseph Padilla, Ronald Padilla and Daniel Padilla.
She was a Nana to her four grandchildren Brionna, Justin, Daniel and Vanessa. She embraced this role with pride, strength, and unconditional love.
Esther grew up in a close-knit family filled with love, alongside three sisters and two brothers, a foundation that shaped her deep commitment to family throughout her life.
She was a loving mother who dedicated her life to caring for her three children and her husband, always putting their needs before her own, along with her four grandchildren.
Esther’s heart extended to her household. She was known as a devoted mother who welcomed neighborhood children as if they were her own. Her energy and laughter were something she was deeply remembered for.
She was actively involved in the PTA at Hope School, and became a proud “band and cheerleading mom,” ensuring she was present and supportive in every way possible.
Esther was also deeply involved in YFL football, attending games and cheering on not only her own children, but all the kids who played.
In her later years she became an avid runner and participated in many marathons throughout the county.
Esther is preceded in death by her beloved husband Joe Padilla; parents Secundino and Epifania Vega; and brothers John and Alberto.
She is survived by her three children Joe, Ron (Natasha), and Dan; grandchildren Brionna, Justin, Daniel, and Vanessa; sisters Lydia Delgadillo, Eva Flores, and Helen (Joe) Martinez.
In honoring Esther’s wishes, a private cemetery service will be held at a later date.
