Firefighters responded early Saturday to a small structure fire on Santa Barbara’s Eastside.

The blaze was reported shortly before 2 a.m. at Cesar’s Place restaurant at 712 N. Milpas St.

When crews arrived, they found light smoke coming out of the building’s roof, with an odor of food, according to Battalion Chief Jon Turner of the Santa Barbara City Fire Department.

Firefighters determined that food had been left on the stove, quickly removed it, and ventilated the smoke from the building, Turner told Noozhawk.

There was no damage from flames, he added, and minimal smoke damage.

No injuries were reported.

Also responding to the incident were personnel from the Montecito Fire Protection District and American Medical Response.
